Watching movies on the go is something that a lot of people have become used to in recent years. With smartphones becoming increasingly good at video playback, it makes sense to sacrifice the urge to watch everything on a big screen. Of course, you can always stream content online for hours, but it isn’t always easy to find reliable sources of movies and TV series. This is why apps like MovieBox and PlayBox have garnered a significant user base among iPhone owners. We covered PlayBox in detail a few months back, and things have been working fine for me personally since then. However, some users of the app have had a chronic complaint about the persistent PlayBox streaming error. The problem prevents you from viewing a lot of videos within the app. While there is no sure-shot way of fixing this issue, there is a workaround that can help.
To fix the PlayBox streaming error, you don’t have to delve deep into the app’s settings, or lose any part of your existing movie collection. The fix is based on the fact that each video you view on PlayBox, has several video quality levels associated with it. If one resolution level is corrupt, or throws the dreaded PlayBox streaming error, it might be possible that another version is still functional. Here is what you can try.
Changing Video Quality To Fix PlayBox Streaming Error
- Go to the problematic video and wait for it to load up. If it is going to throw an error, you might have to wait a considerable amount of time before the notification finally shows up.
- Press the ‘OK’ button on the error notification.
- Now it is time to change the stream’s quality. It is likely that the stream was being played in 720p, since this is the default for most videos. If this is not the case, and the resolution at the bottom of the player is different, tap it once and choose 720p from the resulting menu.
- If the resolution is already 720p, you can try choosing another option and see if that works.
While the above solution helps most of the times, it is still not a certain way of getting things to work. It is expected that some time in the future the app’s developers will fix the PlayBox streaming error, but for now this is the only piece of advice we have.
